A free tracing app, right in your browser
A free tracing app with nothing to download: this tracing website shows any picture over your phone's camera, or turns your screen into a light box.

Or trace a free sketch
2 · Trace it
Prop your phone 20–30 cm above the paper (a glass or a stack of books works), then trace what you see on the screen.
Start tracing in a minute
- 01Open drawwithcamera.com in Safari or Chrome. There's nothing to install.
- 02Optional: add it to your Home Screen from the browser's Share menu, so it opens like an app.
- 03Pick a picture: a photo from your camera roll, a drawing, or one of the free sketches.
- 04Press Start tracing and allow the camera when your phone asks.
- 05Prop the phone above your paper, lock the picture in place, and trace.
Why a web app
Most tracing apps want an install, an account and a weekly subscription before you've drawn a single line. This tracing website opens straight away in your browser, keeps your pictures on your phone, and tracing is free.
It does what the apps do: the picture over your camera, see-through, movable and lockable; a light box mode; and outlines from photos, so it works as a photo tracing app too.
What it can do
- Camera mode: the picture appears over the live camera so you can see your pencil and paper under it.
- Light box mode: no camera needed; your screen shows the picture and you trace through paper.
- Outline: turn a photo into clean lines to trace.
- Move, pinch to resize, twist to rotate, flip, grid lines, and a lock against stray touches.
- Keeps your screen on while you trace.
If the camera doesn't open
- Opened the link inside TikTok, Instagram or Facebook? Their built-in browsers often block the camera. Open the page in Safari or Chrome instead.
- Blocked the camera by mistake? Re-allow it in your browser's site settings, then reload.
- Another app using the camera, like a video call, can block it too. Close it and try again.
- No camera at all, as on many desktops? Use Light box mode.
Questions
Do I need to install an app?
No. It runs in Safari or Chrome on iPhone and Android, and on tablets and laptops with a camera. To open it in one tap, use your browser's Add to Home Screen.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, in Safari on iPhone and iPad, and in Chrome on Android. It also works on a laptop with a webcam, though a phone above the paper is much easier.
Can I use my own photos?
Yes. Pick any photo from your phone. It stays on your device: nothing is uploaded.
What does Pro add?
Pro, coming soon, adds timelapse videos of your drawing, 1,000+ practice sketches, saved projects and lessons. Tracing itself stays free.
